Glasgow Mackintosh

Mackintosh's 'masterwork' The Glasgow School of Art, built 1897-1909, bookends his architectural career. Heavily influenced by the Arts and Crafts style, Japanese detailing and Scottish baronial architecture, this work of 'total design' showcases Mackintosh's holistic approach.

Following a major fire in the Mackintosh Building on the 15 June 2018, the Mackintosh Building remains closed.

GSA’s Archives and Collections, including the School’s recognised collection of original Mackintosh Furniture, were moved out of the Mackintosh Building after the 2014 fire and are therefore unaffected by the 2018 fire.

GSA Archives and Collections’ digital catalogue can be accessed online, with a selection of holdings situated at the Whisky Bond available to view by appointment.

For upcoming opportunities to visit The Glasgow School of Art, including events, lectures and Degree Shows please view the GSA's events calendar.
